Wildlife on the Farm

Our cherished Barn Owls pairing up Spring 2020 and again in 2022

We are very fortunate to have an abundance of wildlife on our farm, from Deer to Barn Owls to many other species of birds. Back in 2011 we had a very special visitor to the farm and feel very priviledged to have been able to photograph it. It was the Hoopoe, not commonly found as far in land. usually turning up along the south coast of England in May, June and July, our visitor arrived in September and stayed with us for 7 days, happily feeding in our garden and mixing with all the other birds including a cock pheasant.
Livestock at the Farm

Inorder to maintain the permanent pasture at the farm, our Romney breeding flock have switched roles and become a "Conservation Grazing Flock" on the farm. This will improve and enhance the natural grasses and wild flower species within the existing sward. Our hefted flock are able to graze widely inorder to avoid poaching the ground and hence no over grazing occurs and they are free to graze over a wide area of the farm.
